Classics are fun, too.
“A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say.” Italo Calvino, The Uses of Literature
I love some of the more classic works. And other stories that are just a bit older. For a while, I thought that in order to be a good reader, my bookshelves should be loaded with classics. Thus, I have at least three different versions of White Fang by Jack London gracing my shelves. And I decided to buy my kids Illustrated Classics to ensure they learned the basics of storytelling through writers like Jack London and Jules Verne. They have everything from The Three Musketeers to Gulliver's Travels. Personally, I always go back to Jack London. I even bought the c.d. of Call of the Wild so that I could listen to it in the van with my kids. Who am I kidding? I listened to it even when they weren't with me. It is definitely one of those stories I could read and listen to again and again.
